Justin Bieber emerges from the studio with his 4th album and he has grown up all around. His voice is smooth and on point as always; his runs and control are verbal perfection. A smoothly sophisticated album from beginning to end, it’s a very smart effort. With thoughtful lyrics and smart song-writing, Justin Bieber and his team have masterfully created an incredibly enjoyable album from cover to cover. Songs range from incredibly catchy beats that will dare you not to dance (“Children”, “Been You”) to some songs featuring simply his matured voice and a beautifully accompanying piano. (“Purpose”, “Life is Worth Living”) The album is positive; in its message, in admitting he’s made mistakes and perseveres; in his relationship with God. Far less tween “ooh baby” and far more adult “ooh baby” for all the right reasons. Do yourself a favour though and buy the Deluxe album – the extra songs are definitely worth it.

Die Musik ist nicht mehr mit der Musik, die er bisher gemacht hat, zu vergleichen – sie ist viel erwachsener geworden und hat einen ganz anderen Stil.1. Mark my words 5/5Das Intro des Albums klingt gut, ist aber leider ein wenig kurz. Dennoch ein guter Opener!2. I’ll show you 5/5Der Song ist ruhig, hat aber trotzdem einige Electro-Beats und klingt sehr schön.3. What do you mean? 5/5Die erste Single aus dem Album ist der Hammer. Der Song geht sofort ins Ohr und da so schnell nicht mehr raus. Ein absolutes Highlight auf dem Album und Justins bislang erfolgreichste Single!4. Sorry 5/5Die zweite Single steht “What do you mean?” in nichts nach. Der Song hat einen sehr guten Rhythmus und sorgt für einen Ohrwurm. Auch der Text ist sehr gut!5. Love yourself 5/5Bei dem Song hat Ed Sheeran mitgeschrieben, womit klar ist, dass der Song toll ist. Der Song ist ruhig und entspannt.6. Company 5/5Bei “Company” handelt es sich wieder um einen tanzbareren Song, der ebenfalls sehr gut klingt.7. No pressure (ft. Big Sean) 5/5Justin singt mit viel Gefühl und wie schon bei “As long as you love me” hat er sich Big Sean zur Unterstützung geholt, der dem Song einen besonderen Touch verleiht.8. No sense (ft. Travis Scott) 4,5/5Einer der schwächeren Songs auf dem Album. Der Song ist zwar nicht schlecht, aber auch nicht herausragend gut.9. The feeling (ft. Halsey) 5/5Der Song ist ein Duett mit der jungen Sängerin Halsey und klingt richtig gut.10. Life is worth living 5/5Eine wunderschöne Ballade, die zu den Highlights des Albums gehört.11. Where are ü now (ft. Diplo + Skrillex) 5/5Auch der Song war eine Single. Nicht ganz so gut wie “What do you mean?” und “Sorry”, aber dennoch ein richtiger Hit! Dank Diplo und Skrillex kommen die Beats nicht zu kurz, Justin sorgt für den Gesang.12. Children 5/5Ein weiterer tanzbarer Song, der einen guten Text hat.13. Purpose 5/5Der Titeltrack des Albums ist gleichzeitig auch der letzte Song auf der Standard-Edition der CD. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Ballade, bei der Justin zeigt, dass er wirklich singen kann. Toll! Am Ende gibt es noch einen gesprochenen Part von Justin.14. Been you 5/5Der erste Bonus Track ist wieder sehr tanzbar und geht ins Ohr.15. Get used to me 4,5/5Ebenfalls ein schnellerer Song, der aber nicht ganz so stark ist wie die anderen.16. We are (ft. Nas) 5/5Der Song hat einen guten Text und einen eingängigen Refrain. Nas sorgt für den Rap zum Song.17. Trust 4,5/5Auch dieser Song ist kein Highlight, aber dennoch gut.18. All in it 5/5Der letzte Track der CD bietet einen gelungenen Abschluss für das Album. Auch hier gibt es am Ende einen gesprochenen Part von Justin.Insgesamt ist Justin ein tolles Album gelungen, mit dem er zeigen kann, dass er erwachsen geworden ist und ernst zu nehmende Musik macht.
