Description
The Casual Vacancy centers on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind the pretty facade, however, is a town at war: rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils. The story begins with the death of beloved Parish Councillor Barry Fairbrother, leaving a seat on the council vacant. Those running for a place soon find their darkest secrets revealed on the Parish Council online forum, ruining their campaign and leaving the election in turmoil.

Faithful and Awesome adaptation
This review is for the HBO series not for the book. I saw it 2 years ago on HBO and found it awesome.. It’s refreshing in a tragic way.. The book is a brilliant peice of work as everyone knows. The casual Vacancy is a Dark, moving and heartbreaking story. It’s funny but in a dark way. It’s stunning portrayal of characters that we see everyday is riveting. But the series goes one step ahead according to me. It brings out the drama all too perfectly. It moves you to tears .. It makes u laugh.. All that at same time.. The actors portray the characters that u love and u loath with perfection. The music, the visuals everything is superb. Watch the series if u haven’t read the book. Watch all the same if u have. Stories like these don’t come very often in a lifetime. I found the climax better in the series. But if u look at the whole story its better in book.

Worth every penny !
This is a review for the DVD. I bought this for a 49 rupees and it’s worth it. The quality of the case, quality of the disc is just outstanding. Yet to start the show but it’s worth it. It’s region 2/5 DVD. Go for it! Seller delivered it in a very good condition too.

Some characters had to be left out, and the climax lacked a bit because of that. The miniseries did not make you relive the worst parts of the novel, which also made the story come out differently. It was still an enjoyable story, but very different from the book. It’s like Martin’s “Songs of Ice and Fire” verses “The Game of Thrones” series. The show is good, but can’t really be compared to the books. “A Casual Vacancy” is along the same lines. It’s totally worth it for fans of the book.

The book was very sad, so I was I little afraid of not being able to sleep after watching all 3 segments of the movie. It was sad, but the story wasgood, after all, J.K. Rowling wrote it, and the scenery around the village was lovely and there were odd bites of humor. Worth watching.

It would not play past 11 seconds. I exchanged it and it was the same situation with the next disk. I have high end modern (2 year old) equipment, and do not have this issue with any other disks. Believe me, I tried several other movies I own to be sure and I ran the most recent update on my b-ray player to no avail. Wound up putting the digital edition enclosed with the disk on vudu and running it through my roku 3 player to watch it. Be sure you get a digital copy with the disk, I think there is a bad batch of disks floating around out there. Probably be best go go with the DVD version to save on cost and to have better odds of it working.
